An Experience of Going to See a Doctor
As aged 15, I often suffered from chest pain for no particular reason. At first, I didn’t think it was a big deal. Later on, the pain struck more frequently and sharply. Whenever it hurts, I felt like my heart being twisted and then torn into two. I was afraid the problem may not be as simple as I thought, and the pain started to haunt me. That’s when I realized that I needed to get myself a physical examination. Since I never had any hard time breathing during the pain, I didn’t think the problem results from the lungs, so I went to the department of cardiac surgery.
In the consulting room, the doctor performed a series of test after the diagnosis. I was then asked to lie down on a bed. The nurse then applied some gel on my chest and wrist, putting some wired sensors on me. A few minutes later, the result indicated a signs of arrhythmia, which means I had an irregular heartbeat. Then I was taken to a room with the ultrasonic wave device, so as to see the image of my heart to further confirm the problem. It turned out that my heart has mitral valve prolapse due to my height.
